The Western Regional Health Authority (a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health & Wellness) is currently seeking to employ a Chief Electrical Engineer for the Regional Office.

 

JOB PURPOSE

Under the general supervision of the Director, Operations and Maintenance, the Chief Electrical Engineer is responsible for providing technical support to the Region on preventative and corrective maintenance of electrical systems and equipment to ensure safety, reliability and cost-effectiveness.

 

CORE FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop and implement maintenance policies and procedures 
  • Provide technical advice, codes and standards for electrical generating and distribution systems and equipment used in the Region 
  • Perform complex diagnoses of electrical equipment failures and system problems
  • Evaluate and make recommendations regarding electrical equipment being considered for purchase 
  • Perform pre-inspections of electrical equipment and develop preventive maintenance procedures on newly acquired equipment 
  • Develop plans/policies geared toward keeping the maintenance costs for electrical systems and equipment to a minimum while ensuring safety and reliability 
  • Collaborate with the Bio-Medical, Civil and Electro-Mechanical Engineers in the establishment of a library of manufacturer’s resource material, current manuals and periodicals on electrical equipment/machines for training and reference purposes 
  • Lead the development and implementation of energy conservation techniques for the Region
  • Ensure that safety procedures, protocols, precautions, regulations and industrial hygiene practices are observed during all work assignments 
  • Record and report equipment malfunctions that need repairs and safety hygiene infractions to the Maintenance Manager 
  • Perform other related duties that may be assigned by the Maintenance Manager

  • Knowledge of technical aspects of electronic equipment and its operation, repair and maintenance
  • Ability to analyze, repair and test electronic and electromechanical equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds of equipment; to push/pull equipment carts 

 

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering 
  • A minimum of three (3) years experience with similar incapacity
