The incumbent directs and coordinates staff activities in corporate communication, public relations, marketing, events planning, and customer service, while developing strategic plans for the department.

 

Job Purpose:

The incumbent is responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of staff involved in the planning, design and implementation of corporate communication, public relations, marketing, events planning and customer service strategies in accordance with the Corporation’s policies and projects. The Director develops the department’s strategic plan to address critical issues in the communications area.

The ideal candidate should have:

 

Specific Knowledge, Qualification and Experience

  • Post Graduate Degree in Mass Communication and/or Management 
  • Additional years of related experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree
  • Minimum eight (8) years of progressively gaining responsibilities in the field of communication with the last four years at a senior management level
  • Experience in public relations, advertising or sales
  • Expert knowledge of communication/public relations theory and practice
  • Sound knowledge of events planning concepts/implementation
  • Extensive working knowledge of the mass media and other communication channels 
  • Knowledge of integrated marketing communication
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
  • Training in public speaking
  • Sound knowledge of information technology which would enhance internal and external communication
  • Sound knowledge of communication management principles, theories, techniques and practice
  • Sound knowledge of the Corporation’s products, systems and procedures

  • A high degree of confidence
