Dispatcher (GMG/AM 1) - Falmouth Public General Hospital

JOB PURPOSE

Under the direct supervision of the Transport Supervisor, the Dispatcher is responsible for the expeditious and efficient management of requests for ambulance transfers as well as regular transportation requests. 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Actively respond to incoming requests for ambulance transfers and coordinates response by obtaining client/caller information 
• Communicate with requesting agency/client and receiving hospital/unit by providing updates as applicable 
• Collect, record, and organize transport requests coming to the office 
• Maintain report of all vehicles dispatched in keeping with the prescribed reporting format
• Collect fuel cards and keys at the start of each shift and assist with assigning them to the Drivers as directed by the Transport Supervisor 
• Assist with the assignment of utility vehicle transport requests 
• Assist with the monitoring and issuing of fuel cards as directed 
• Assist with the preparation of monthly reports as it relates to requests and fuel usage
• Perform other related duties that may be assigned by the Transport Supervisor 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Four (4) CXC subjects including English Language and a numeric subject
• Two (2) years experience working in a similar capacity 

REQUIREMENTS

• Good written and oral communication skills 
• Good time management skills 
• Ability to write a basic incident/accident report 
• Ability to operate multi-line phone/dispatch system 
• Good interpersonal and customer relations skills 
• Basic understanding of medical terminology
