Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the vacancy for September 1, 2024 for the position of Hospitality, Tourism, Management Lecturer.

 

Qualification and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Hospitality, Tourism, Management
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Ecology & Hospitality
  • Diploma in Secondary Education (Hospitality Management)
  • A minimum of 5 years teaching experience

 

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Competent in technology integration in facilitating core courses/subjects.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Attend short courses and seminars for professional development.
  • Develop appropriate methods for course delivery and assessment.
  • Evaluate and utilize a variety of instructional techniques so that his/her students may have opportunity to explore these techniques in their own pedagogic development.
  • Perform core lecturing tasks, such as: setting of examination questions, marking assignments, providing formal and informal feedback to students, and record keeping.
  • Supervise students on practicum and develop strategies to enhance the teaching/learning process.
  • Function as part of a team in the delivery of an integrated teaching programme within the institution.
  • Enhance teaching profile of the institution through research and publication on teacher education.
  • Develop a teaching portfolio/profile.
  • Abide by the Code of Regulations and the Regulations of the Joint Board of Teacher Education 
  • (JBTE) and the Council of Community Colleges of Jamaica.
