The Western Regional Health Authority (a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health and Wellness) is currently seeking to employ a Regional HIV/STI Programme Coordinator (HPC/MO 4) for the Regional Office
JOB PURPOSE
Under the general direction of the Regional Technical Director or designate, the incumbent will be responsible for planning, supervising and guiding the implementation of the STI/HIV programme in the region as well as providing technical support to the health departments, governmental and non-governmental organizations.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Advising the Regional Technical Director or designate on specific Programme Development matters
- Provide technical and administrative support to the Regional Technical Director to facilitate the management and monitoring of programme activities within the assigned health programme
- Formulate a comprehensive annual work plan aligned with the Service Level Agreement and Strategic Business Plan for the HIV/STI Programme
- Formulate/develop, prioritize, implement, monitor and evaluate policies and programmes across the Technical department
- Provide assistance/support to develop, conduct, monitor and coordinate activities related to the strategic planning process of the Western Region
- Provide professional and technical advice to various groups within the RHA
- Supervise the Regional staff associated with the programme assigned (e.g. Regional BCC Coordinator, Regional Contact Investigator) to ensure proper functioning of system for data collection and compilation
- Provide logistical support in organizing and supporting planned training workshops as required by the WRHA Technical office
- Perform any other related duties as assigned from time to time
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of STI/HIV epidemic
- Knowledge of research techniques
- Knowledge o Service Level Agreements
- Well developed planning, organizing and decision making skills
- Good time management skills
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Graduate from an accredited Medical School
- Full registration by the Medical Council of Jamaica
- Acceptable postgraduate degree in a medical specialty plus five (5) years progressive and responsible experience within the specialty
- Signed Peer Approval
Plus
- Three (3) years experience at the supervisory level
- Diploma/Certificate in Supervisory Management
- Experience in Health Promotion
- Diploma/Certificate in Project Management
