The role involves designing, developing, and supervising training events for the tourism industry, assisting in budget monitoring, staff supervision, program evaluation, and ensuring alignment with local and regional education standards.

 

JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Executive Tourism Training Manager the successful candidate will assist the Executive Tourism Training Manager to identify training needs, market, plan, coordinate, design, deliver and evaluate training programmes for current and potential employees in the tourism industry in the parishes of Kingston, St Andrew, St Thomas, St Catherine, Clarendon, Portland and Manchester.

 

SCOPE OF JOB

  • Designs, develops, coordinates and supervises training and learning events to meet the needs and standards of the tourism industry
  • Contributes to the preparation and development of training brochures, course schedules, curricula, reference/resource materials to meet the organization’s standards for dissemination to the public
  • Assists the Manager in the supervision of the staff
  • Contributes to the compilation of the department’s monthly, quarterly expenditure budget reports
  • Assists with maintaining and monitoring the department’s expenses and invoicing of programmes
  • Assists the Manager in Consulting with clientele to ensure that constituents training and learning needs are met
  • Assists with the scheduling, monitoring and assessment of Team Jamaica programmes in HEART institutions.
  • Assists with the evaluation of the quality of instructions, course content, participants’ response to training, suitability of venue effectiveness of training and learning events in order to improve quality of training and learning events and provide feedback to instructors
  • Establishes and maintains collaboration internally and externally to ensure that local and regional industry training and education standards are recognized and assists in higher education policy decisions
  • Performs other related functions assigned from time to time by the Training Manager

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A first degree/Diploma in Education, Human Resource Development, Social Sciences, Arts or other relevant discipline
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in training and/or the tourism sector

OR

  • Any equivalent Combination of Qualifications and Experience

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work may be assigned in volatile and deep rural communities.
  • The incumbent is responsible for the lifting and transportation of training equipment to training site as required
  • The incumbent may be required to travel outside of his/her base for periods not longer than 2 weeks per assignment.
