Job Overview:

The Pfizer Medical Representative Supervisor will lead and oversee the team of medical representatives for the Pfizer portfolio. This individual will be responsible for managing, developing, and motivating the medical detailing team to meet or exceed sales targets set for the Pfizer Portfolio. The Pfizer Medical Representative Supervisor is a strategic leader with a solid understanding of pharmaceutical products, strong communication skills, and the ability to drive sales performance. He or she will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure the achievement of internal and supplier targets. The Pfizer Medical Representative Supervisor will collaborate closely with the Pfizer Caribbean Sales Manager for all strategic areas of the business to ensure alignment and maximization of growth opportunities. The Pfizer Medical Representative Supervisor will maintain promotion within a defined and agreed territory  –  and manage key accounts which include but is not limited to National Health Fund (NHF), University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI), Tony Thwaites  Wing, Andrews Memorial Hospital, Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) and Hospital Jamaica, Health Services Authority (HSA) and Doctors Hospital Cayman. 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Team Leadership & Management:

  • Collaborate with the Pfizer Caribbean Sales Manager to plan business growth strategies, monitor and adjust execution based on trends in the market
  • Collaborate with the Pfizer Caribbean Sales Manager to set clear sales targets and ensure the team meets or exceeds them through clear direction in alignment with business objectives
  • Lead and manage a team of medical representatives, ensuring they are well-equipped to perform their duties effectively
  • Provide regular coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to individual team members
  • Monitor individual and team sales performance versus targets
  • Monitor individual achievement of KPIs including call rate, effective territory management and management of relationships with HCPs and key stakeholders and effective use of promotional budgets
  • Foster a collaborative and motivated environment within the team

2. Sales Strategy & Execution:

  • Collaborate with Pfizer Caribbean Sales Manager to develop, implement and monitor the execution of sales strategies that drive business growth and increase market share in the pharmaceutical sector
  • Collaborate with the Pharmaceutical Sales Manager and Business Manager to analyze in-market sales performance and product movement across commercial, government, and specialty pharmaceutical segments, identifying opportunities to maximize business growth. Support the Pharma Business Unit Lead in ensuring all projects, initiatives, and targets are delivered on time and achieved. Coordinate closely with the Purchasing Coordinator to maintain optimal stock levels while ensuring compliance with Pfizer’s required order values.
  • Oversee the execution of sales plans, ensuring alignment with company objectives and targets
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, healthcare professionals, clinics, and hospitals to best serve their needs
  • Support Pfizer Caribbean Sales Manager with review and analysis of sales reports to identify performance gaps and potential risks and develop corrective action plans to drive improved results.
  • Support the Quality and Regulatory teams throughout the tender process as opportunities arise, ensuring timely and accurate bid submissions while maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

3. Business Development:

  • Work closely with the Pfizer Caribbean Sales Manager and Pharmaceutical Business Unit Manager to identify and explore new business opportunities, partnerships, and strategic initiatives
  • Conduct and assess market research and competitor analysis to identify new business opportunities and support strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate on market penetration strategies, product introductions, and geographic expansion plans
  • Collaborate with the Caribbean Sales Manager and Pharma Manager to align sales strategies with overall business development objectives, driving sustainable growth and profitability.
  • Provide input on key business development decisions, offering insights from the sales team’s field experience
  • Contribute to the identification and implementation of new revenue streams and customer segments

4. Training & Development:

  • In collaboration with the Pfizer Caribbean Sales Manager develop and implement training programs for new and existing medical representatives, focusing on product knowledge, sales techniques, compliance, and industry regulations
  • Conduct regular in-field training to improve sales skills and ensure product knowledge is up to date.
  • Organize workshops and webinars to continually enhance the team’s understanding of new products, industry trends, and best practices
  • Ensure the team adheres to all company policies and regulatory guidelines

5. Export Markets:

In collaboration with the Business Development Manager:

·         Develop marketing/demand plans to drive demand for the portfolio with Cayman Islands

·         Coordinate with purchasing department to support inventory management with our key customers

·         Serve as main liaison with HSA to develop relationships, ensure customer’s needs are met and identify and action growth opportunities

·         Provide technical support through training, coaching and field visits where needed

·         Develop and manage budgets for the markets

6. Compliance & Reporting:

  • Ensure that the medical representative team follows all legal and ethical standards in promoting and selling pharmaceutical products
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of sales activities, achievements, and performance metrics.
  • Track and report on team performance to Pfizer Caribbean Sales Manager, providing insights and recommendations for improvement
  • Prepare monthly business review presentations for all assigned territories (Jamaica and Cayman Islands)
  • Manage and resolve any issues related to compliance or sales performance promptly

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., logistics, finance) to ensure smooth operations and timely product deliveries
  • Collaborate with other Pharma Managers across assigned territories to monitor and guide field execution.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, or related field; MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical sales, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role
  • Proven track record of sales success and team performance management
  • In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical products, industry regulations, and market trends
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities
  • Ability to analyze sales data, derive insights, and make data-driven decisions
  • Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and sales reporting tools

  • This role requires frequent local travel (and occasional overseas travel) to meet with team members, healthcare professionals, and key stakeholders
