Teacher of Home Economics

The successful candidate will deliver engaging and practical instruction in Home Economics, with a focus on Food, Nutrition & Health, Clothing & Textiles, and Family Life Education. The teacher will foster hands-on learning, promote life skills development, and support students in preparing for CSEC examinations and career pathways in the creative and vocational industries.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

·       Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics, Family and Consumer Sciences, Education, or related field

·       Teacher training certification from a recognised institution

·       Familiarity with the National Standards Curriculum (NSC) and CSEC syllabus

·       Competence in both theory and practical aspects of food preparation, sewing, and budgeting

·       Strong classroom management, communication, and organisational skills

Key Responsibilities:

·       Plan and deliver lessons in Food & Nutrition, Clothing & Textiles, and related areas

·       Prepare students for internal and external assessments (e.g. CSEC)

·       Maintain a safe, well-organised practical learning environment

·       Integrate life skills, sustainability, and entrepreneurship into instruction

·       Contribute to school-wide initiatives and departmental planning

·       Engage in continuous professional development

Additional Requirements:

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office and educational technology

·       Ability to coordinate lab activities and manage supplies effectively

·       Passionate about student development and practical education

Salary: In accordance with Ministry of Finance and the Public Service salary scales.
