The Warehouse Utility Worker reports to the Warehouse Supervisor on the shift assigned. This worker must be able to operate a forklift and other motorized equipment and use handheld scanners to conduct movement of inventory items. Their duties include but are not limited to replenishment, put-away, off-load containers, transfer of goods, temperature monitoring, and identifying goods for write off.
Key Responsibilities
- Operates a forklift and other motorized equipment (pallet rider) in carrying out daily activities.
- Selecting of items for customer pickups, as well as internal customer request.
- Participate fully in the reduction of shrink, variances, and damage.
- Assist with bin replenishment and put away goods based on the Receiving Clerk’s instruction using radio frequency (RF) handheld equipment.
- Monitor internal movements to ensure products are in the correct bin and rotated based on FEFO rules.
- Assist with the transfer of goods between sites using RF handheld equipment and follow CPJ’s established procedures while conducting transfer.
- Identifies products to be written off and reporting same to Supervisor daily.
- Offloading of containers and storage of items based on the Receiving Clerk’s instruction.
- Assist with general housekeeping duties (sweeping of the floors, cleaning walls, speed doors, shutters, and curtains.
- Assist with repackaging of products.
- Assist with the transfer of items between the warehouse storage and the distribution centre.
- Assist with the dating of products as required.
Required Skills
- Secondary school leaving certificate.
- Three (3) CSEC subjects or equivalent.
- Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems is an asset.
- Food distribution experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Bureau of Standards regulations, HACCP and AEO is an asset.
- Ability to work nights, weekends and public holidays as required.
- Demonstrate strong Interpersonal skills.
