Artisan/Plumber (LMO/TS 4) - Hanover Health Department

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• In supporting the Senior Plumber or under the guidance of the Senior Maintenance Officer the Artisan (Plumber) will carry out the following duties: 
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints to assess or plan plumbing installations and layouts
  • Routine maintenance of plumbing systems, including inspection, cleaning, lubrication and repair or replacement of fixtures and fittings 
  • Execution of both scheduled and unscheduled work orders and emergency service requests
  • Maintenance and use of equipment, including high and low-pressure, water pumps, water pipelines, sewage pumps and lines, fire pumps and fire hydrant systems 
  • Inspecting and testing plumbing systems for safety, functionality, and code compliance 
  • Monitoring and replenishing water storage tanks 
  • Assist with the development and implementation of water and energy savings strategies
  • Assist with the inspection of major plumbing works being carried out by external contractors
• Records and reports equipment malfunctions; needed repairs and safety infractions to the Senior Plumber 
• Assists with general maintenance activities in the division 
• Performs other related duties that may be assigned by the Senior Plumber and or the Manager 

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Good oral and written communication skills 
• Ability to perform effectively as part of a team 
• Good interpersonal and time management skills 
• Ability to use hand and power tools of the trade skillfully and safely 
• Must be able to read, interpret and work from sketches, plans and specifications 

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

• HEART’s Level 2 Certification in Plumbing 
• Three (3) years of experience working in a similar capacity
