The Western Regional Health Authority (a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health & Wellness) is currently seeking to employ Artisans for the Regional Office.
JOB PURPOSE
Under the direct supervision of the Regional Maintenance & Engineering Manager, the Artisan is responsible for the daily woodwork, plumbing and general construction maintenance at the regional offices and warehouse, and assisting with training and providing hands-technical support as required. The incumbent will also be expected to:
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Replace and install fixtures such as doors, windows and locks
- Repair furniture such as cupboards, draws tables and chairs
- Repair building leaks; and carry out tiling and painting as required and directed
- Identify, fill and paint gaps/crevices in building structure
- Install and replace signage, murals, and outdoor furniture as instructed
- Identify and report maintenance and repair works identified
- Dispose of waste material from maintenance repairs in the designated area
- Report equipment malfunctions, repair needs and safety infractions to the Manager
- Construct minor partitions, ramps, platforms and steps etc.
- Carry out minor electrical, plumbing repairs and general maintenance-related issues
- Assist with or conduct routine inspection of buildings and structures
- Assist with the repair of equipment and appliances such as fans, microwaves, stoves and oven and refrigerators
- Assist with cleaning and servicing air condition units, extractor fans and ventilation systems
- Perform other related duties that may be assigned by the Manager
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to use hand and power tools of various trades skillfully and safely
- Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers, drills etc.)
- Ability to read technical documents and drawings
- Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times
- Good physical condition and endurance
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
- HEART/NVQ-J 2 in General Construction along with experience in plumbing, and electrical installation
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a similar capacity
