This position is responsible for conducting Special Audits in assigned Ministries, Departments, Agencies, Public & Statutory Bodies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

Technical/Professional 

  • Conducts Special Audits as assigned in accordance with established standards and guidelines. 
  • Conducts due diligence on “tips” received and advances a recommendation based on initial findings. 
  • Consults with Senior Auditors to determine audit objectives, data extraction point, required information and report formats for data analysis requests. 
  • Liaises with auditees to obtain an understanding of business rules, systems, processes and procedures. 
  • Participates in planning, Entrance and Exit meetings and takes Minutes when required. 
  • Performs audits in keeping with international best practices and AuGD’s established standards. 
  • Supports the work of the HR Office in conducting internal investigations. 
  • Engages appropriate investigative techniques in pursuance of targeted information. 
  • Discusses audit evidence with Supervisor and clients. 
  • Drafts audit queries, Working Papers and communication for submission to Team Lead. 
  • Assists in the drafting of Audit Report and makes recommendations. 

People Management 

  • Provides feedback to direct reports on the completion of respective audits and recommends training where necessary. 
  • Contributes to the preparation of annual work plans for the Unit. 
  • Supports the work programme and deliverables of the team. 
  • Provides support and guidance to team members in areas of expertise.
  • Participates in capacity development programmes. 
  • Promotes adherence to the policies, procedures and regulations of the Department. 
  • Assist with on-the-job training for new team members.

C. Other Responsibilities 

  • Performs other related duties that may be assigned. 

 

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

  • Audit plans are completed in accordance with established guidelines and timeframe. 
  • Working papers are completed in accordance with established standards and agreed timeframe. 
  • Reports, queries and correspondence are prepared in accordance with established quality standards and agreed timeframe. 
  • Evidence collected supports findings and recommendations made.
  • Performance Evaluation Reports are completed in accordance with agreed standards and timelines.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Three to five (5) years progressive work experience. 
  • Diploma in Management, Business Administration, Accounting, or related area Associates degree in Social sciences, Natural Sciences or related discipline. 
  • Exposure to audit training would be an asset. 
  • Competency in the Excel, data analysis 
  • Experience in conducting investigations or forensic auditing would be an asset.
