The purpose of the position is to develop, manage and coordinate public relations and visibility campaigns relating to the justice reform agenda.

 

PERIOD OF CONTRACT

The period of contract is for at least two (2) years with gratuity payments effective May 1, 2024 or at a later date of assumption. 

 

OBJECTIVES 

The objectives are to:

  • Increase MOJ media presence through structured weekly radio and television programmes, print columns and other relevant initiatives 
  • Raise awareness about justice reform and engage Jamaicans in the discussion about the changing landscape of justice 
  • The establishment of a robust public education and communication strategy to promote and enhance the public image and corporate identity of the Ministry. 
  • The development of a corporate communications programme 
  • Execution of promotional and marketing operational plans 
  • Development, implementation and monitoring of media and public relations activities.
  • Consultations with local and international partners/stakeholders 

 

SPECIFIC DELIVERABLES

  • Development of Justice Sector Communication Strategy for the next five (5) years (2022/2026) 
  • Development of evaluation tools for communication strategies 
  • Development/revision of plan and execution of a brand strategy for the justice sector incorporating the first class justice system theme 
  • Development, execution and or review of concepts for radio, television, print features and social media 
  • Development of social media strategies 
  • Development of Alternative dispute resolutions strategies 
  • Capacity development plans for justice sector communication team
  • Establishment of partnerships with media and stakeholders 
  • Development and execution of structured fora at the national, regional and community levels 
  • Production of programmes and features for radio, television and print media
  • Supervision of a creative team of graphic artist, videography team social media and other similar experts 
  • Development of a monitoring and evaluation framework for coordinating, monitoring and evaluating communication and visibility plans being executed through donor funds where applicable 

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Master's Degree in Mass Communications with specialization in either Public Relations, Radio, Television or Print Media. 
  • At least 8 years of practical experience in two of the above fields, including proven expertise in radio and or television production and writing for the print media
  • Excellent writing skills, 
  • Excellent knowledge of modern public relations practices and techniques
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing social media strategies

  • Any other equivalent combination of skills, qualification and experience

As approved by the Ministry of Finance and Public Service and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice.
