Driver

Job Purpose

The incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day transportation, pickup and delivery of correspondence, packages, equipment and supplies for the BSJ in order to support the core activities which promote the competitiveness of Jamaican producers, facilitate trade and protect the consumers. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Follows appropriate safety procedures when transporting materials and personnel.
• Performs routine vehicle maintenance such as checking tyre pressure, oil and water.
• Checks vehicles before driving them to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
• Maintains logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status following applicable organizational procedures.
• Delivers and receives correspondences and packages
• Transports personnel, equipment and stationery as assigned
• Adheres to the regular maintenance schedules of motor vehicles
• Reports defects of vehicles
• Maintains accident-free operation of vehicles
• Reports accidents promptly to all relevant agencies
• Adheres to the BSJ's Drivers' Policies and Guidelines
• Delivers quality customer service
• Any other related duties 

Unusual Requirements/Working Conditions:

The incumbent may be exposed to the following circumstances deemed to be unusual.

Minimum Educational Requirements:

• NCTVET certification in driving
• Holder of 6,000 kgs PPV Driver's licence 

Experience:

• Five [5] years of experience as a Driver

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Working knowledge of Jamaica driving regulations
• Working knowledge of basic approaches to vehicle maintenance
• Working knowledge of vast sections of the corporate area as well as rural Jamaica
• Good planning and organizational skills in order to meet deadlines
• Ability to be flexible
• Ability to operate motor vehicles for extended periods
• Good communication (both written and verbal) skills
• Good team player
• Good customer service skills 

Physical Demand:

• Rigors of full-time driving 

Mental Demand:

• Concentration for extended periods in a dynamic vehicular traffic environment
