The Southern Regional Health Authority (SRHA) invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Final Accounts Officer (FMG/AT 3) in the Regional Office.

 

Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Final Accounts & Reporting, the incumbent is responsible for performing various accounting functions, ensuring compliance with the established financial policies and procedures of the Region’s hospitals and parish administrations.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • AAT Level 3 or;
  • ACCA-CAT Level 3 or;
  • ACCA Level 1; or
  • NVQJ Level 3, Accounting; or
  • Diploma in Accounting from an accredited University or Community College
  • Certificate in Accounting from a recognised University or
  • Certificate in Government Accounting ie. Level 1 Modules 1 – 5 or
  • Completion of first year in BSc. in Accounting/Management Studies or BBA at a recognised University or;
  • Completion of first year of ASc. in Accounting at MIND

PLUS

  • Two (2) years’ experience in general financial accounting

 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:

  • Working knowledge of financial analysis and internal control procedures.
  • Working knowledge of the maintenance of financial management control systems
  • Good inter-personal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written format with persons at all levels.
  • Good time management skills.
  • PC operating skills (spreadsheets, word processing or other data base applications).
  • Confidentiality and integrity

 

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting research and preparing verification letter for NIS, NHT, P24 and pension contributions as requested by employees
  • Preparing and submitting Employers’ Contribution reports for Pension Health Insurance payments
  • Preparing Payment Vouchers
  • Assisting with posting of payment vouchers to the financial accounting system
  • Assisting with the checking of payment vouchers
  • Assisting in the preparation of all statutory reports and other reports on deductions from salaries
  • Issuing of blank cheques to Cashier for payment preparation as requested
