Under the general direction of the Parish/Programme Specialist (Vector Control), the incumbent will be responsible for safeguarding public health and mitigating vector borne diseases through vector control source reduction activities.
Required Qualification & Experience:
- 4 subjects at the GCE, CXC OR CSEC level (Including English Language)
- At least one (1) year experience in vector control
Specific Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Operation of the Fogging and Mist-blower machine
- Mixing of chemicals for vector control
Key responsibilities will include but not limited:
- Conduct entomological surveys to include the collection of samples: larvae, pupae, and adult mosquito samples;
- Mapping of mosquito breeding sites by specie, level of infestation, distribution and recommend appropriate intervention
- Regular inspection of premises for active or potential breeding sites to include high-risk premises
- Assist in the investigation of complaints relating to mosquitoes and other vectors of public health significance
- Assist in fogging exercise for adult mosquito breeding
- Distributing Information Education & Communication (IEC) materials as required
- Initiating surveys in specified areas as requested
- Carry out any other duties related to the control of vector borne diseases that will arise from time to time.
