Laboratory Technician - Corporate Office

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Passes in five (5) subjects at Ordinary Ievel/CSEC level including Mathematics, English Language, Information Technology and preferably other technical subject i.e. Physics, Chemistry or Geography
• Certificate in soil/material testing or equivalent
• Specialized training in lab testing techniques
• Minimum of (1) year experience in Soil and Material testing

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Must possess an eye for detail.
• Ability to demonstrate a high level of integrity and ethical standards.
• Perform tests on soil and other engineering material using required standard test methods and submit test report sheets to supervisor immediately upon completion of test.
• Ensure that all testing equipment assigned is calibrated if required and in good working condition and reporting defective equipment.
• Ensure that all files related to jobs in progress are up to date.
• Ensure that all samples received are clearly labeled and easily identified throughout the testing process.
• Prepare graphs and sketches relative to various tests performed both in the field and laboratory.
• Conduct various tests on roads under construction.
• Maintain general cleanliness of the laboratory including storage and disposal of samples, washing and cleaning of equipment and accessories etc.
• Monitor and maintain adequate supplies of material, chemicals etc.
