Manager Dietetics Services €“ (HPC/ND 4)

KEY OUTPUT

• Collaborates in the development, implementation and evaluation of National Policies and Programmes on Dietetics.
• Develops, field test and equip government hospitals with standards and norms to guide the operation of Dietary Services in public hospitals.
• Sets national directional priorities for the dietetics component of health care, providing a critical link between the Ministry of Health and Wellness, and the Regional Health Authorities.
• Monitors the implementation of the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative.
• Provides technical support to facilities that provide maternity and pediatric services.
• Provides technical guidance to the Regional Health Services on all aspects of dietetics services. 

Key responsibility areas INCLUDES:

• Assesses available information and provides advice to guide the formulation of Dietetics and Nutrition Policies.
• Collaborates with the Programme Development Officer – Nutrition in identifying Nutrition and Dietetics priority issues and develop appropriate strategic approaches.
• Establishes a monitoring system for Dietetics data to inform programme implementation:
  • Identify indicators for monitoring 
  • Manage the collection and dissemination
  • Develop the reporting mechanism to ensure that the appropriate data is submitted in order to facilitate monitoring
• Develops and monitors the issue of nutrition care plans for the management of specific disease states in the delivery of health care services.
• Assesses and coordinates relevant hospital Dietetics systems and subsystems (clinical and administrative) to ensure that operational standards are met.
• Provides technical guidance and support to policy makers, Regional Health Authorities, Dietitians and Technical staff on nutrition and dietetics issues.

Minimum Required Education and Experience  

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or Equivalent, with an approved Internship from an accredited institution.
• Master’s Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics or Equivalent
• Be registered with the Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine (CPSM) and
• Post graduate training in Management plus a minimum of seven (7) years’
