Conduct field surveys, attend meetings, supervise personnel, estimate project expenses, oversee contractor projects, provide technical advice, and stay updated on surveying techniques.

 

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • B.Sc. in Geometric Engineering or equivalent
  • Competence in Engineering Surveying
  • A Commission/Licence from the Surveyors' Board of Jamaica
  • Seven (7) years related work experience 

 

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge in construction of roads, drains, bridges, river training/flood control, sea defense and retaining walls
  • Ability to oversee construction works, ensuring satisfactory completion, as regards specification, time frame and budgetary constraints.
  • Competence in computer applications
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

  • Reports to: Director Technical Services 

 

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Conduct out field surveys (collect, compute and present data)
  • Attend regular meetings and site meeting, report findings and employ labourers.
  • Supervise land/Assistant Surveyors, Chainmen and liaise with the relevant Managers/Directors to facilitate the planning process.
  • Determine estimates of expenditure for projects
  • Supervise, inspect and report on survey projects carried out by contractors on behalf of the Agency.
  • Provide technical advice and data to other professionals in the Agency on the surveying aspects of their Projects.
  • Liaise and advise Senior /CAD Technician regarding production of surveying plans.
  • Investigate the development of the latest surveying techniques and methods in consultation with the other professionals in the field and as revealed in professional magazine.
  • Advise and provide technical advice and data to other professionals in Government Agencies on the surveying aspects of their Projects.
