Public Health Nurse (HPC/RN 3) - Hanover Health Department

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Give guidance and advice on unresolved clinical problems 
• Supervise/assist with advanced nursing procedures 
• Coordinate specialist clinics 
• Facilitate requests for training and recommends staff 
• Prepare programme plans to meet parish goals 
• Deploy staff in emergencies and for coverage during leave of absence 
• Collaborate with other team members in setting targets and planning strategies for implementation 

SKILLS/COMPETENCES & SPECIIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:

• Working knowledge of the public health systems relating to the delivery of healthcare;
• Good communication and interpersonal skills 
• Excellent time management and planning abilities; 
• Good critical thinking and emotional intelligence skills 
• Excellent clinical skills and attention to details 
• Working knowledge of the relevant computer applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint 
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; 
• Excellent organization, coordination, problem-solving skills and techniques;
• Independent, flexible and innovative attitude; 
• Excellent interpersonal skills; 

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelors of Science in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing
• BSc./Certificate in Midwifery from an accredited school of nursing 
• Certificate/Diploma in Public Health Nursing 
• Minimum of 5 years experience excluding training 
• Registration with the Nursing Council of Jamaica 
• Valid Nursing License
