The North-East Regional Health Authority is seeking a dynamic, proactive and forward-thinking individual to fill the position of Secretary (OPS/SS 2) at the Portland Health Department.
The ideal candidate must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- CXC or GCE ‘O’ Level English Language or equivalent with proficiency in typewriting at a speed of 40-45 words per minute; successful completion of the prescribed Office Professional Training Course at the Management Institute for National Development (MIND)
OR
- CXC or GCE ‘O’ Level English Language or equivalent with proficiency in typewriting at a speed of 40-45 words per minute and training in word processing and spreadsheet applications. Graduation from an accredited Secretarial School.
- A minimum of three (3) years working experience as a Secretary.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND SPECIALISED TECHNIQUES
- Good inter-personal skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Good time management skills.
- Ability to use initiative
- PC operating skills (spreadsheets, word processing or other data base applications).
- Knowledge of operations of Government/Ministry policies and procedures
- Excellent knowledge of standard office procedures
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Provide secretarial support services.
- Establish and maintain a filing system for the Department to facilitate the easy retrieval of documents.
- Type and file documents for the Departments as assigned.
- Maintains and updates records.
- Recording, sorting and dispatching incoming/outgoing correspondence.
