ROLE AND CORE FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
Under the direction of the Audit Manager (directly) and Chief Internal Auditor (indirectly), the incumbent shall have responsibility for providing support to facilitate an effective and efficient audit and compliance system to ensure that company accounts, inventory and other control systems are in accordance with statutory, ethical and organizational requirements.
CORE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Make regular checks of accounting records for accuracy and completeness particularly for the NHF’s Retail Pharmacies and Health Centre/Hospital based Pharmacies.
- Conduct Operational, Financial and Compliance Audit reviews to ensure that company accounts, inventory and other control systems are in accordance with statutory, ethical and organizational requirements.
- Undertake regular and ad hoc stock checks and also assist in the annual stocktaking exercises at the NHF’s Retail Pharmacies and Health Centre/Hospital based Pharmacies and National Health Fund’s Pharmaceutical Division. In addition to investigating discrepancies to identify causes and propose workable solutions/recommendations for improvement.
- Conduct audits/reviews at Institutional Benefits projects, Ministry of Health and Regional Health Authorities to ensure value for money and accountability of NHF’s funds, disbursed under the Institutional Benefits Programme.
- Prepare and submit to the Supervising Audit Manager reports on discrepancies and/or findings of investigations/audit assignments.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly reports on the department’s audit activities.
- Check the movement of company’s fixed assets. Submit report on compliance - Physical versus Assets Register.
- Check items for disposal against disposal list for the purpose of Internal Board of Survey approval.
- Assist with investigations to facilitate the resolution of customer complaints and goods return request.
- Assist with maintaining an efficient filing system.
- Conduct scheduled audits at the NHF’s Retail Pharmacies and Health Centre/Hospital based Pharmacies.
- Perform any other related duties assigned to achieve the company’s objectives and ethical standards.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- A Degree in Accounting, ACCA Level 2 or its equivalent.
- Audit Command Language (ACL) certification.
- Minimum four (4) years working experience, including two (2) year in a supervisory position.
- Minimum of two (2) years auditing experience in the area of Operational, Compliance and Financial audits.
- Auditing experience in a Pharmaceutical, Warehousing and/or Insurance environment would be an asset.
