The National Housing Trust is seeking to identify a senior internal auditor for its Internal Audit Department. .

 

JOB PURPOSE

The senior internal auditor is responsible for conducting Financial, Operational & Compliance Audits in accordance with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards so as to provide management assurance on the effectiveness of governance, risk management and controls. The incumbent will be executing independent assessment of the effectiveness of policies, procedures and standards, accuracy of records and efficiency and effective-ness of operations to meet strategic goals. 

 

MAIN DUTIES:

Duties specific to the position include but are not limited to the following:

  • overseeing auditors and audit assistants
  • executing audit procedures to include system/account balances, confirmations, cash accounts
  • reviewing and assessing internal controls as well as conducting special reviews
  • preparing assigned audit schedules for external auditors
  • certifying Priority Index Entitlement (PIE) selections for compliance with the NHT Act
  • preparing monthly departmental and other management reports as required. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate must have:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Management Studies from an accredited tertiary institution
  • Certified Information System Auditor (LISA) and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
  • Minimum four years' experience in internal audit including one year experience as a team leader or supervisor.

 

Required knowledge at above average level for the following:

  • NHT's Act, Public Bodies Management & Accountability Act, Financial Administration and Audit Act, Public Procurement Act and other relevant laws, regulations and guidelines
  • Audit Command Language (ACL)
  • Auditing methods and accounting principles, practices, rules, policies and procedures
  • Fraud identification techniques
  • Risk assessment, internal control analysis, business analysis and intelligence
  • Data anahitics
  • Project management.

  • Supervisory competencies.

 

WORKING CONDITION

The incumbent may be required to work beyond specified working hours to meet critical deadlines and to travel frequently to NHT branch locations and construction sites.
