Employee will supervise the manufacturing and distribution or feed formulations for all groups of animals present at the farm. Will ensure adequate raw materials are present to make TMR and undertake proper record keeping for all activities in the Nutrition Department. Ensure the timey feeding of animals to achieve high production and minimal waste.
KEY RESULTS AREAS:
Liaise with vets, feed dispatchers, animal professionals and supervisors at all farm to ensure
animal gets the best quality feed and at the correct time period; ensure animal have access to feed each day.
Check and report the feed materials quantity and quality received.
Keep daily records of feed usage and balance on hand of feed material
Ensure that the farm has enough feedstock for daily feed.
Supervise total mixing ration preparation for different groups of animal.
Ensure the correct ration is passed to correct group.
Daily analyses feed dry matter, TMR &Manure evaluation by pen box in one of the milking group
Conduct regular Rumen Filling Score.
Assess daily intake of feed, prepare feed intake report daily from which to make calculated decisions.
Assess nutritional and caloric requirements based on an animal’s condition and type of physical activity such as performance, reproduction, lactation or overcoming nutritional deficiencies.
Conduct regular Body Condition scoring.
Following & reporting Hay, haylage, project to ensure have enough stock from hay and haylage for all the year .
Using specialized computer software to devise diets and produce reports
Ensure feed facilities and water troughs are up to standard.
Calculate and create report for feed efficiency, kg/hd/day to maintain feed cost to achieve the target.
Perform any other related duties with the position as required by management.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
BSc in Animal Science or Veterinary Science
Computer literacy training in Database Management and should be competent in Microsoft excel.
Must be able to maneuver feed formulating software.
