POSITION OVERVIEW
This position is responsible for ensuring that the bags are loaded into the valve packer and are fit to be placed on the packaging line. It is also responsible for ensuring that the bags are of the required weight.
1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
a) Ensure that bags are clean before they are loaded onto the valve packer.
b) Responsible for performing quality checks on the flour bags to ensure that they are the required weight.
c) Performs general maintenance on the machine at least once per week. This includes cleaning and servicing the Sifter, Conveyor and Filter.
d) Cleans up spills and chokes as they occur.
e) Ensure that the packer chamber
f) Operates the Packing Line Machine.
g) Keeps the packing area clean and orderly.
h) Assumes the duties of the Leadman - Packaging whenever necessary.
i) Adheres to all safety requirements.
j) Assists the Leadman Packaging with the loading of the Bulk Tanks.
k) Performs quality checks and take the necessary corrective actions.
l) Performs any other task which may be necessary from time to time.
2. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
a) High school diploma or equivalent.
b) Basic mechanical knowledge
c) At least two (2) year’s working experience in a manufacturing entity.
3. JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
a) Intermediate knowledge of packaging systems.
b) Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
c) Strong commitment to safety.
d) Ability to work overtime, shifts and on call.
e) Firm understanding of ISO, HACCP, GMP and environmental standards.
f) Basic understanding of integrated pest management strategies.
4. AUTHORITY
Perform quality checks and take the necessary corrective actions.
5. PERFORMANCE CRITERIA
The job is satisfactorily performed when:
a) Dependability and positive work attitude are displayed.
b) Valve packer are loaded with clean bags
c) Safety rules and regulations are followed and work area is always safe.
d) Bag weights are checked every 45 minutes and randomly prior delivery to Flour Warehouse.
e) Dependability and good attitude to work are demonstrated.
6. WORKING CONDITIONS
This position requires working in a hot, noisy and dusty environment which includes standing, climbing, crawling, lifting a maximum of 50 lbs, working at heights, walking for prolonged periods with constant exposure to manufacturing areas
