Objective/Purpose of the Job:

The Quality Assurance Analyst assist with ingredient and finished product testing as well as ensuring food safety for all products manufactured. The QA analyst has a broad understanding of GMP and food safety standards, compliance, sanitation principles and good laboratory practices. The QA Analysts monitor production lines, sensory, support microbiological testing, and enter quality test data. The QA Analyst supports the plant’s continuous improvement efforts in operational excellence with an emphasis on quality and food safety. Responsible for accurate and complete quality and production documentation, reporting and analysis. Supports policy implementation in all operational areas. Requires the ability to flex between functional areas as needed for back up and support.

Requirements

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

PLANT ASSIGNED DUTIES

1. Execute on-site monitoring routines of critical process parameters for the quality of raw material, intermediate and finished products such as:

a. Additive dosing rates.

b. Concentration of additive solutions and mixtures.

c. Storage and environmental conditions.

d. Weights

e. Sensory

f. Sanitation activities, environmental controls and others that are defined according to the nature of the processes and that are established in the manuals of norms and applicable procedures.

2. Sample and conduct analyses on raw material, in-process material, process by-products, water samples, intermediate and finished products, and be able to, based on the results make recommendations for changes as needed.

3. Assist with analyses on incoming material when the need arises.

4. Communicate laboratory results to production in a timely manner to ensure a quality product.

5. Notify the responsible department representative and evaluate together the root cause of deviations as well as define the corrective action and ensure that it is carried out in the shortest possible time.

6. Notify the Quality Control Specialist/Production Supervisor of deviations and irregularities observed and execute the indicated actions, including instructing the shift leader to stop/start the production line if required.

7. Ability to understand and oversee and monitor plant quality systems including but not limited to; GMP’s, traceability, Glass policy, and sanitation.

8. Maintain program encompassing Quality Monitoring Scheme to provide assurance of quality products.

9. Identify areas for improvement and assist with the implementation and monitoring of approved new

methods accordingly.

10. Ensure all products are manufactured according to product formulation and quality specification

requirements

LABORATORY ASSIGNED DUTIES

11. Conduct analyses using laboratory equipment, both classical and electronic.

12. Ensure the analysis of crude oils and fats in storage weekly.

13. Ensure accurate receipt and logging of all samples brought to the laboratory.

14. Prepare laboratory reagents and standardization of solutions needed for analysis and ensure the use

only of approved AOCS or other approved procedures provided by the company.

15. Ensure proper usage and maintenance of tools and equipment for optimal functionality.

16. Prioritize good laboratory and sanitation practices.

17. Supports the hold/release programs for finished goods and raw materials. This includes the release of

intermediates on Infor.

18. Maintain and operate all laboratory equipment including troubleshooting and calibrating.

19. Prepare accurate and timely reporting of test results paying attention to the requirements of the

continuous processes which requires speedy results for process control

20. Conduct and record verification activities prior to analysis as appropriately needed to demonstrate the

credibility of equipment and analytical results (internal controls)

21. Assist in trending and reviewing results from analyses in order to make recommendations to improve

processes.

22. Carry out minor trouble-shooting and calibrations as needed on laboratory equipment.

23. Participate in all Proficiency Test exercises assigned.

24. Participate in Food Safety activities as required.

25. Perform any other related duties assigned.

Academic/Technical/Management: Experience and Qualifications:

26. BSc. Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, or Food Chemistry and related.

27. Minimum 1 year experience in a similar capacity within a food manufacturing facility.
