Main Purpose of the Role:

To be the first point of contact with customers about matters relating to their incoming cargo. To ensure that all import documentation is prepared and distributed according to the established standard. The position must also ensure that a high level of customer care is provided to both internal/external customers.

Main Tasks:

  • Validation of import cargo according to Zim’s procedures and guidelines.
  • Prepare and dispatch arrival notices on date of vessel arrival.
  • To ensure that the bill of lading registry is protected prior to vessel processing.
  • To ensure all customers are notified of cargo arrival and data logged.
  • Preparation of invoices for global and local charges for all import bills of lading.
  • Ensure demurrage availability dates are assigned for all vessels.
  • Ensure that all consignees are assigned a Carrier Unique Customer Code (CUCC).
  • Proactively notify customers of delays regarding arrival or delivery of cargo.
  • Request local consignee details from ports of loading in cases where shipments are consigned “to order” or a foreign entity.
  • Requests and complaints by customers need to be handled within 24 hours of receipt.
  • To advise customers of all express releases relating to their cargo at least 24 hours after receipt of instructions.
  • Generate and transmit manifests to external entities in accordance with the established standard.
  • Generate ACR report per vessel to ensure all domestic containers are captured and manifested.
  • Ensure all demurrage and electricity charges are invoiced accordingly.
  • Preparation of customs documentation for arrival of vessel in the established standard.
  • Generate and monitor invoice reports for assigned vessels and seek to rectify discrepancies.
  • Weekly generation of unclaimed cargo listing for contact with customers.
  • Weekly generation of non-returned or LIM-D container report.


Requirements


Five CXC /GCE O’level subjects including English Language and Mathematics.

At least Two (2) years experience in the shipping industry.

Diploma in Shipping Logistics or equivalent (optional).

Proficient in the use of Microsoft suite.

Awareness of the effectiveness of interpersonal skills.
